Eligibility and Enrollment Information Key Points:
- Current employees and their dependents, retirees, and surviving spouses will be able to participate.
- Dependents will be eligible to participate but employees must submit documentation proving the eligibility of their included dependents.
- Open Enrollment will begin October 14, 2024 - November 1, 2024, you must actively elect coverage during Open Enrollment to be covered in January 2025.
- As a result of all benefit plans changing for 2025, the open enrollment period will be mandatory. If you do not actively enroll in benefits during the open enrollment period, you will not have the opportunity to enroll in benefits again until the next open enrollment period or qualifying event.
State Group Insurance Plans
Dependent Enrollment (This will be mandatory for OE for the 2025 plan year):
- Employees enrolled in the State Group Insurance Program health plans, may also cover eligible dependents.
- Members will be required to provide documentation for registered dependents, verifying eligibility through the People First Portal.
- In accordance with section 110.12301(2), F.S., dependents must meet specific eligibility requirements to be covered under our program.

Spouse Program:
- Eligible employees can participate in the Spouse Program and pay for health insurance at a reduced premium.
- Spouses must enroll in the same health plan.
- It is the employee’s responsibility to notify the People First Service Center within 60 days for both eligibility and ineligibility.

COBRA:
- DSGI administers COBRA for all employers participating in the State Group Insurance Program.
- COBRA allows employees, retirees, and their families, to continue coverage of health, dental, and vision benefits after termination or loss of eligibility.
